Your 2023 Sourcebook Team!

A great sourcebook requires a great team. The good news is that I don’t know if I could find a team any better than this. I’d like to briefly introduce you to the team that is writing this year’s Rhetoric LLC sourcebook!

The LD Sourcebook Team

Joshua Wales is an incredible coach, and an incredible writer. On his own, he’s already written enough excellent content to make the sourcebook worth buying. He is a great researcher, a great thinker, and a great leader, and is working tirelessly to develop a multitude of arguments for this year’s resolution.

Connor Appelboom persuaded me that this resolution could actually be debated well (yes, I was skeptical at first). That night, I asked him if he wanted to write for us. Connor reads philosophers’ original works for fun. He is reading all kinds of books about the resolution, and will be providing all sorts of in depth content for the sourcebook.

Victoria Campbell was a top LDer in high school, winning first place in both Lincoln-Douglas and Lincoln-Douglas Speaker at her last Regional Championship. She is now in two philosophically based honors programs, further refining her philosophy skills. She will be writing great content for the sourcebook as well!

Cooper Cobbs used a Rhetoric LLC debate camp and our sourcebook to jumpstart his season last year. He finished the season in semis at nationals. More importantly, he is a great guy and is passionate about debate. I’ve seen lots of great ideas from him in the short time he’s been on the team so far, and I’m excited to see what he writes for his sourcebook case!

And lastly, Josiah Hemp. I am also writing for the sourcebook team. I’ve researched and written on eight LD resolutions, either as a competitor or sourcebook writer. In my junior year, I placed second at nationals in LD, and I started this company to train Christians to communicate with excellence for the glory of God.

It’s been amazing talking with these people about various ideas. This year’s sourcebook is going to be even bigger and even better than last year’s, and that is saying something.

The TP Sourcebook Team

Nathan Chen is our first team member from Region 2, and he brings an impressive list of accomplishments with him including two TP Regional Championships, placing 8th at Nationals in Team Policy, and placing third at nationals in LD Speaks. He is a top debater and researcher, and I’m excited to see his work for the sourcebook!

Nathan Dudley is returning to the team! After running the AFF case he wrote for the sourcebook all the way to Nationals, he finished in third place. He is a fantastic researcher, and I am excited to see him continue to do great work for the team!

Rebecca Gilchrist is back too—but after a successful year of Team Policy, she has switched over to the TP team from the LD team. She did excellent work last year for the LD sourcebook, and is an incredibly dedicated worker. I’m excited to see her research again this year!

Charlee Amason has been with us as a blogger, and is now a sourcebook writer! She made it to finals in both Team Policy and Lincoln Douglas this past year, and was an Ultra-Ironman. In case you couldn’t tell from her competing in three forms of debate and qualifying seven speeches to nationals, she is incredibly enthusiastic about debate. Looking forward to seeing her briefs!

Cyrus Aryani has been with the team from the beginning. He finished his senior year by placing 7th at nationals in Team Policy, and as the top team in at large points prior to Nationals. He is a hard worker, and a strong researcher. He also runs a successful Youtube channel about aviation, the Avid Aviator. He has some great ideas regarding aviation and transportation policy.

Jesse Castrinos and his partner were the number one team in at-large points prior to Nationals his senior year. During his first year at Patrick Henry College, he has already won a few college debate tournaments as well. I’ve gotten to know him even better at PHC, and I know he is a great man and a great researcher.

Meredith Monroe is the first MBA I’ve had on my team. After graduating from Patrick Henry as a top Economics and Business Analytics student, she went to Israel for an MBA, and is now working back stateside. Although she never competed in NCFCA, she has long been a part of the community as a judge, and asked me if she could help with the sourcebook. She is an excellent researcher, and will be writing articles about business and economic issues surrounding the resolution.

Look forward to great sourcebooks!

I’m really excited to work with this fantastic team! I’ll be overseeing both teams as we write an incredible pair of sourcebooks this summer.
